One night President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to do something out of routine and go for a casual dinner at a restaurant that wasn’t too luxurious. When they were seated, the owner of the restaurant asked the president’s secret service if he could please speak to the First Lady in private. They obliged and Michelle had a conversation with the owner. Following this conversation President Obama asked Michelle, “Why was he so interested in talking to you.” She mentioned that in her teenage years, he had been madly in love with her. President Obama then said, “So if you had married him, you would now be the owner of this lovely restaurant,” to which Michelle responded, “No. If I had married him, he would now be the President.”

Criminal psychologist Veronica Sinclair (Charisma Carpenter) has managed to give her son Bobby (Nicholas Hoult) a good life full of emotional support and strong moral guidance, despite having to work full-time as a single parent.  When he goes off to college in the big city, she tries her best not to be That Mom, to let him spread his wings and take on a world she knows he’s bound to conquer.  Bobby can’t wait to get out of the suburbs; what he doesn’t know is that his mother has been lying to him since he was a child.

At school Bobby meets his new professor, Dominique St. Claire (Eva Green) — unaware that she is in fact an aunt he never knew existed, the younger sister Veronica helped put behind bars fifteen years ago after she murdered their parents.  Released from an inpatient clinic for the criminally insane after being declared safe to reenter society, Dominique is bent on revenge — and it’s easy enough to see how best to destroy Veronica.

When Bobby goes missing, Veronica finds herself facing the demons of her past to solve Dominique’s mad riddles and rescue her son from her sister’s seductive and sadistic machinations.  But will there be anything left of him to save?
